Polish European Community Studies Association (PECSA) is a non-governmental organization established in 1989 by scientists from the best Polish universities, supported by the European Commission. From its beginnings PECSA is an active member of the European Community Studies Association (ECSA) where it represents Polish scientist specializing in European integration research. What distinguishes PECSA is the inter- and multidisciplinary scientific background of its members. European studies projects and research prepared and conducted by PECSA require integration of knowledge from different fields: economics, political science, international relations, law, administrative sciences, sociology and anthropology.
Members of PECSA include university scientists, independent scholars, research institutions, universities and their departments. Among them there are many outstanding Polish researchers (some of them Jean Monnet professors). Many of founding members of PECSA currently represent Poland in EU institutions and take active part in devising EU policies. Institutional members of PECSA include i.e.:
- Centre for Europe (University of Warsaw),
- Centre for European Integration Research (University of Gdańsk),
- Warsaw School of Economics,
- Institute for Market, Consumption and Business Cycles Research (IBRKK).
Prof. Ewa Latoszek, since 2013 Jean Monnet Chair of European Union at Collegium of Socio-Economics (Warsaw School of Economics), is chairwoman of PECSA. Since 2013 prof. E. Latoszek is a member of the Horizon 2020 Advisory Group for Societal Challenge 6 "Europe in a changing world- inclusive, innovative and reflective societies". Since 2014 prof. E. Latoszek is also a member of the Horizon 2020 Ad Hoc Advisory Group on 'Science with and for Society'.
